Richard Nagareda, of Vanderbilt, passed away. The law school has this notice. We had previously mentioned his work on aggregate litigation, which, although not couched in terms of legal ethics per se, was addressing some of the toughest issues currently being debated in our field. (h/t: Leiter Law School Reports) [update] Here is a blog post Prof. Nagareda wrote for Torts Prof Blog, "Developments in the Resolution of Mass Torts: The New Face of Client Consent." [This post has been updated.]
I worked with Richard when he was in private practice and kept up, too slightly, in the years since then. He was a beautiful human being as well as a brilliant and creative scholar. What a loss this is!
