Great conference and it was fun to visit Memphis for the first time. At the big reception, Elvis made an appearance. (I learned that they're not called "Elvis impersonators," they're called "Elvis tribute artists.") The Elvis below the jump is a local judge in Memphis, Judge Childress, who said he prefers "young Elvis" and gold lame. He did a great job. I would have gotten Elvis's autograph but the security detail was too scary.
UPDATE: Here is the Ethical Code of Conduct for one group of Elvis Tribute Artists. (Thanks for Rick Underwood for the pointer!)
Steele, you were scary beyond words.

Perfect material for your next ad campaign: "Steele:Taking Care of Business!" Be careful in Florida, though. Ms. Bible seems tough.

At one time there was a website for an association of Elvis impersonators, and they referenced their Code of Ethics (there was not much content). I am not making this up. I used to show it to my students to explain how everyone tries to "professionalize" by adopting a Code. I am on the read, but I will try to find it when get back to my classes this week.

YES! There is still and Association with a Code of Conduct. Calls for an Elvis and the Law Conference at Fordham.
