I still have an LL.B. When the LL.B. was switched to a J.D., I couldn't afford the $25 for a new certificate. I don't think it has affected my practice.

When I was an associate at a large firm, my mentor received a letter from Harvard offering him a J.D. for $25. Did he send the money? No. He taped the letter to the bottom of the framed LL.B. on the wall of his office. (I, too, kept my LL.B. from Illinois.)
