Today's installment of the PrawfsBlawg research canons series is legal ethics and professional responsibility. The idea behind this project is to create resources for new scholars starting work in particular fields, who need to get a lay of the land in the area. As the inaugural post on Prawfs put it, there are some works of sufficient importance that, if an entry-level candidate isn't familiar with them, a committee at the Meat Market would wonder about the candidate's competence.
I posted the list I gave last week in the comments to Andy's post on SSRN. It is pretty much limited to theoretical scholarship, since that's where my research is concentrated. Anyone who disagrees with my picks, or who would like to add a list of important works in doctrinal, sociological, or specialized (criminal, corporate, etc.) areas should add comments on Prawfs.
