Officer of the Executive Branch (cont'd)

I've previously noted that if lawyers traditionally were "officers of the [state] court," then people who do their lawyering by leave of a federal agency's permission and regulation must be, for better or for worse, "officers of the executive branch."  Here's a new article by Colin Marks, of St. Mary's, looking at ehtics issues arising from the related concept of the DOJ "deputizing" outside lawyers to do internal investigations.
