Over at the Volokh Conspiracy, Ilya Somin's modest proposal is that lawyers who administer the bar exam actually take the bar exam, and that they be suspended from practice if they do not pass.
How about this proposal: people who teaches PR (i.e., whatever the school offers to satisfy ABA Accred. Std. 302(a)(5)) must pass the MPRE some time in the last year. I took it last Spring and found it to be useful and even educational. There were some nooks and crannies in the Model Rules that I hadn't explored in some time. Plus there was some nostalgia in showing up at a community college early one Saturday morning with several No. 2 pencils and an eraser. More substantively, it would ensure that PR teachers have a solid grasp on the basic rules.
