In a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court affirmed the Eleventh Circuit's denial of habeas relief to petitioner Holly Wood on his claim that his lawyer (who had been admitted to the bar less than six months) should have investigated and presented mitigation evidence of his mental deficiencies during the penalty phase of his capital murder trial.
