In this Florida case, an associate was planning to leave a firm and therefore took client files home one at a time to copy them so that he would be in a better position to keep the client. And the facts get much worse. But at the end of the day, the law firm couldn't prove causation between the "theft" of the files and the firm's eventual loss of the clients.
