His nomination is an excellent choice by Governor Brown and will be subject to a far less politicized confirmation process. For all of the reasons I have explained here before, Liu is obviously qualified. The nation's loss is California's gain. Meanwhile our federal confirmation process -- like our budget process -- is still broken.
