My Inn of Court, the Hon. William A. Ingram American Inn of Court, will hold the Ingram Symposium on January 11, 2012, at Santa Clara University, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Our guest speaker will be Justice Goodwin Liu, the newest member of the California Supreme Court. He will participate on a panel with Dennis Brown (the President of the Ingram Inn) and Professor Gerald Uelmen (honored long-time member of the Ingram Inn and distinguished law professor at Santa Clara University School of Law). Their topic, “Judicial Nominations and Paper Trails,” addresses the process faced by judicial nominees, which Justice Liu has experienced at both the federal and state levels.
The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with a one-hour wine and cheese reception at the Adobe Lodge. The panel discussion starts at 6:45 pm, at the Recital Hall in the Music and Dance Building (located at the corner of Franklin and Lafayette Streets, next to the Mayer Theatre on the Santa Clara Campus, about a 5-minute walk from the Adobe Lodge).
Judge William A. Ingram
Judge William A. Ingram served as a Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California for twenty-six years, including three years as its Chief Judge. The William A. Ingram Inn of Court, which draws its pupils from Stanford, Santa Clara and Lincoln Law Schools, was renamed to honor Judge Ingram, one of the Inn's founders, and Judge Ingram's family designated the Inn to receive memorial contributions to endow this Memorial Symposium.
Judge Ingram was a mentor to many lawyers and judges in our community, and the Inn and this symposium seek to promote the ideals of civility, collegiality, and professionalism that he personified.
