overhaul to the criminal justice system for centuries. Firstly, legal
aid has continued to be dramatically cut. Secondly, he is seeking to
introduce a controversial "best value tendering" system, which threatens
to replace the current system of independent, expert advocates with
"sausage factory" law companies which, many feel, are motivated
primarily by volume and efficiency rather than a desire to see justice
correctly served. These measures are currently undergoing consultation."
