I am away from Minnesota for a year at Harvard’s Safra for Ethics to write a book on why conservatives should support campaign finance reform. While putting together some statistical data, I looked up the contributors to Representative John Kline (R), who represents Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District, including the City I live in and will return to next July: Mendota Heights.
And the for-profit education industry tops the list.

John Kline is chair of the House Education and the Workforce Committee. Pure coincidence I assume.
I just hope my tax dollars aren’t being used to guarantee student loans to graduates of for-profit colleges who can’t get jobs. I have nothing against for-profit education, but why should I and other taxpayers have to subsidize it?
Perhaps this is another example of how big campaign finance leads to big government. At some point Americans -- and conservatives in particular -- have to say that enough is enough.
