I previously announced the launch of the New York Legal Ethics Reporter (NYLER), a monthly publication focusing on developments in New York legal ethics and professional responsibility.
The April issue is now out. It contains the following articles:
Remembering Professor Monroe Freedman, by Abbe Smith (based on remarks delivered at Prof. Freedman's memorial service on March 1, 2015
When You Can Contact Others Who Are or Were Represented by Counsel: Part 1, by Martin I. Kaminsky (Greenberg Traurig) and Maren J. Messing (Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler)
"Illegal" Conduct Under Rule 1.2: When Does Advice to a Client Violate an Attorney's Ethical Obligations? By Lewis Tesser and Timothy Nolen
Summaries of Recent N.Y. Ethics Opinions, by Tyler Maulsby
NYLER is also accredited to provide 0.5 CLE credits in Ethics and Professionalism to experienced attorneys who score 80% or higher on a monthly self-assessment examination based on the articles appearing that month. It’s the same kind of CLE test NYPRR used to give – only web-based and automated. (A $25 fee applies. Financial aid is available for attorneys who are unable to purchase a test due to cost considerations.)
To receive NYLER articles FREE each month by email, enter your email address at the link on the NYLER homepage.
